2026 Annual Gala
Our fall Annual Gala honors an individual (or individuals) who have made a significant contribution to the region’s industrial heritage.
We are pleased to continue the tradition in 2026 by honoring Bill and Kevin Sage from Sage Brothers Company on Thursday, October 1, 2026, 5:30pm to 8:30pm at the Franklin Terrace on Campbell Ave in Troy.
Sage Brothers Painting Co., Inc. is a third-generation, family-owned commercial and industrial painting contractor that has been an integral part of Troy, New York's history since its founding in 1945 by John J. Sage. Later joined by his brothers Tom and Bill, the firm established a strong regional reputation specializing in industrial coatings, commercial painting, sandblasting, and steam cleaning. In 1969, the company permanently linked its legacy to Troy's architectural heritage by purchasing the historic 1873 Troy Gas Light Company Gasholder House. While primarily utilizing the massive structure to store specialized scaffolding and equipment, the Sage family—subsequently led by Vietnam veteran William "Bill" Sage and his son Kevin—became dedicated preservationists of the landmark. For over half a century, they have generously opened the Gasholder's doors to the community for arts installations, civic benefits, and cultural events, blending their successful commercial contracting enterprise with a profound commitment to local historic stewardship. Kevin and Bill have been valuable supporters of the Burden Ironworks Museum for many years. Their contributions to the longevity and renaissance of the museum have been integral to our continued success. In addition to their continued financial support, Kevin and Bill have contributed directly to the revival of our Gilded Age beauty; painting the roof framing and cupola during the restorations of the Spanish tile roof in 2010-11; sealing and painting the restored plaster in the main gallery in 2022 & 2023. In short, their work has significantly made the museum sparkle.
Please consider joining us to honor the Sage family.

We celebrated our first 50 years with a variety of events culminating in a special Fall Gala on Thursday, September 26, 2024. Rather than honor specific individuals this year, we are calling on all founders, former employees and board members, and friends to join us at the Country Club of Troy for a party to mark this important occasion.
